“Out With The Old, In With The New” Applies To Makeup Too

Of course, women need to pay great attention to the use of old cosmetics on their face, more specifically on their eyes. The mantra of the holiday season is “Out with the Old, In With the New”, and this mantra needs to be applied to makeup. Instead of using old makeup – eye makeup – it would be wise to purchase brand new eye makeup. It is easy to develop serious eye infections using old eye makeup. We usually see an increase in such infections during festive seasons. Why? The reason is that old makeup – liquid eyeliner and mascara (whether they are water-based or oil-based) – breed bacteria. Bacteria flourish in moist conditions. When makeup is used beyond the recommended date of use, women raise their chances of suffering from severe eye infections – conjunctivitis or styes.

Therefore, once liquid eyeliners or mascara has been opened, you have up to six months before replacing them.

5 Important Tips To Ensure Healthy Eyes Throughout The Christmas Party Season

Here are five tips to help you maintain the health of your eyes as you attend one Christmas party after another.

 Toss your old makeup in the garbage and purchase new makeup.

 Regularly clean your cosmetic brushes

 Don’t share makeup with your friends, co-workers or family (germs can spread easily in this manner)

 Remove all makeup before you go to bed, cleaning your face and eyes entirely.

 Do not wear makeup every day. Go for a natural look from time to time. This will allow the eyes breathing time.
