BACK-UP GLASSES:
Dr Ken Onu comment 0 Comments access_time 2 min read

Hello Readers, I had an interesting experience the other day that I would like to share:

Dr Onu: So, hello patient.

Patient: Hello, Dr. Onu

Dr. Onu: Could you tell us your story please?

Patient: Well, this morning I got up, put on my glasses only to realize that it was broken in two, so I decided to come to your office to see what could be done, so here I am.

Dr Onu: Yes, and you know it’s very interesting because these things happen, and they can happen accidentally and we have no control over these problems. It is recommended that you change your glasses roughly every two years or as your eye doctor stipulates.

Here is what we did: We took the frame,it was split in the middle, but the two lenses were still okay, so we managed to find another frame that the lenses could fit into.

However, this does not always work, sometimes you have to re-order the frame and this is one of the reasons why we recommend that people have a backup. We also recommend backups for patients who are very far or near sighted who cannot do without their glasses or contact lenses.

The American Society of Ophthalmology recommends “It is very important to keep a back-up pair of glasses with your current prescription in the event you cannot wear your contacts for health reasons…also “When traveling, it’s always important to have a back-up option, just in case”.

This is something I keep insisting on, because it is always good to have a backup solution. The glasses could get lost or stolen for instance.

Dr Onu: So, how happy are you now with this solution?

Patient: I am very, very happy because without my glasses, I cannot see.

Dr Onu: So, Remember to always get a backup.

On another note…. This whole summer long we are giving back to Students and Teachers with our Back to School program that includes Free eye exams and heavily discounted glasses.
