Lens choices for almost any lifestyle.
Today we will be discussing special lens choices for almost any lifestyle requirement.
Computer Lenses.
People who use a computer for at least two hours per day may require computer lenses.
They help reduce strain on the eyes and provide the best vision while working at a computer.
These lenses are offered with a variety of features; including a combination of special filters and anti-reflective coatings e.g Blue Light Protection.
Sport Lenses
We recommend shatter proof lenses to protect the eyes from flying objects. They improve safety and performance and enhance your enjoyment. Sports lenses are available in a variety of designs, colours and treatments. They are usually lightweight.
Lens Treatments
UV protection
Ultraviolet rays from the sun are potentially harmful to the eyes. UV protection should be recommended on all lenses. They shield one’s eyes from the harmful rays of the Sun and accomplish the same results as sunscreen does for one’s skin.
This is a ‘must-have’ for adults and children for they promote healthy vision.
Scratch resistant coating
Scratch resistant coating is crucial for the everyday wear and tear of your lenses. The usefulness of your lenses is prolonged and your investment in good vision protected.
Anti-reflective coating
This special coating helps reduce distracting reflections. This results in better transmitted light, improved night vision, better quality of vision and reduced eye fatigue.
They are excellent for driving at night and working on a computer. They are also cosmetically appealing because they make the lenses look “invisible” and show your eyes more clearly.
Adjustable tint lenses
Adjustable tint lenses are lenses that darken in the sunlight.
This technology provides one with lenses that are as dark as sunglasses outdoors and are practically clear indoors. They also protect you from harmful UV rays. The most popular and superior brand is called Transitions. Ask for this brand by name. Ask your dispenser for a demonstration of this technology.
In addition to UV coatings for the sun, when it come to sun lenses there are several more options:
Polarized lenses
These lenses are the best option for eliminating serious glare. Drivers, Hunters, Fishermen, Boaters, outdoor sports enthusiasts among others benefit from the glare blocking properties of polarized lenses.
Practically any surface can create glare when in sunlight. Windows, snow, sand, water, vehicles and buildings are some examples of reflected glare sources.
Polarized lenses reduce eye fatigue and strain in bright sunlight. They are available in various designs, colours and materials.
Transitions introduced a lens called Drive wear. It is polarized and has an adjustable tint at the same time.
Tinted Lenses
These lenses are available in gradient or solid options and medium to dark shades. Gradient means that the top of the lens may have one shade and the bottom of the lens may come in a lighter shade.
This is a cheaper option to adjustable tint lenses. They are also available in almost any colour, making them popular for young people.
Mirrored Lenses
These lenses can be very good looking. The coatings make the eye look almost invisible to others and at the same time protect the eyes from glare. They come in a variety of styles.
That’s it for now until the next post with more lens choices! Here a thought for you
